AhYap’s Rants On His Beloved Country Malaysia.
Aug 19th, 2007 by AhYap
Everyday 8.2 girls in Malaysia get raped (and that is only for reported cases). The government seldom discuss about it.
But then when Negaraku is being sang in R&B by a Malaysia student studying in Taiwan, it is discussed so many times in the parliament, and has been commented by so many ministers and government officers. Chinese papers have a few pages on it everyday.
There are people who want to revoke his citizenship. There are people who want to forfeit his passport so he can’t return home. There are people who say he must be punished although they don’t know exactly which law to use (Oh!). They say, they can definitely find one to prosecute him.
Our government had built the highest building in the world, and yet their heart is so small. They are extremely sensitive and is unable to tolerate small little things. And yet, they ignore all the big issues and pretend they don’t see it. They like to make small issues big and keep quiet about the big issues.
What is the use of celebrating our 50th year-old birthday when there are still double standard on so many things?
Why is it that someone with status apologized, thing can be settle and why a small citizen apologize, he still have to be punished?
Why the UMNO representatives who make sensitive comments LIVE on TV only get some ‘discipline action’ from the party?
Why someone who build a multi million castle without permit can settle by a few tears saying that his old house is too small for his family? He only needs to pay a small sum of fine.
Why my Primary School Sam Tet Ipoh doesn’t even have a small field and a hall for so many years? And we only have a basketball court for our assembly. While other school have big halls with air-cond and big football fields!
Why our Minister of Education, Mr H (I don’t know how to spell it so I don’t want to spell it because if I spell in wrongly, I might end up in the jail! This is Malaysia) can be a hero and make the headline of Chinese papers when he allows 2 Chinese schools in Malaysia to reallocate?
He can be a hero just by giving the ‘permission’ to relocate and not the money! And the Chinese society have to find money themselves to relocate. Poi Lam and Wan Hwa Ipoh has been trying to relocate without sufficient fund for more than 10 years.
And yesterday paper, why some schools have to pay for their own electricity and water bills while some schools can be paid by the government?
Why we need to build the highest building in the world that has never been occupied fully until today WHILE we don’t have enough seats in our local Universities?
The government want to sue YouTube because of the Negaraku video. This shows how intelligent our leaders are when it comes to understanding the internet. Youtube has hundred of thousands videos online and how they are going to monitor all of them?
Even if they monitor all of them, you really think Negaraku is so popular in the world that they know what is it? Mr Nazri, how many countries National Anthem can you sing and recognized? How do leaders like that can build a good internet infrastructure for us when their understanding on how the internet works is so little.
Some leaders (ahem, leaders) says the Government should stop sending Chinese students to study in Taiwan. Oh! Chinese students who study in Taiwan are those who can’t get into the local universities and they are actually paying for themselves! They thought that the Government is paying for them because they got so many JPA and government scholarships for themselves! They are just slapping their own face. And the lyrics of the song does talked about this and it proofs again that they didn’t listen to the song before they comment.
I am not voting on the next election. I am not celebrating our 50th birthday day. If I have to go to jail if I don’t vote, then I will go to vote. If I have to go to jail if I don’t celebrate our national day, then I will celebrate. Don’t play play! You can go to jail for a lot of reasons in Malaysia. Our government is hypersensitive on a lot of small things.
Nazri , “We cannot be like the West where you can have the underwear with the design of the Union Jack. In Britain, you can insult the Queen or the flag, I don’t care, but in this country we have laws and we cannot create a precedent where you commit an offence, apologise and get away with it.”
We have the highest building in the world but we have the smallest heart! We always criticized the value of the West and yet we are the one with the smaller heart.

Ah Yap… most people think what you think, and you need to vote on the next election, it is our responsibility and use it wisely. Cheers!
尽量把多一点华人放进国会,不管他是哪个政党就对了。
This is MALAYsia.. that’s why a lot of thing cannot be tolerated… and Keong Keong, Chinese will always lose on voting…
good post. i don’t need to post again in my blog. good one.
WE are given a FAIR treatment like others. Our country has provided us with all those TOUGH CHALLANGES that OTHERS don’t get. Yes it’s only us. Whatever we do, we have to do it by ourselves. My country MALAYSIA has made me to be more competitive. Because I have to STUDY REALLY REALLY and still don’t gaurantee a place in UNI, I have to work hard to BUY my own house, in the future I have to feed my children, nobody will be feeding them for me for free, IF I can’t find a job, I can’t just setup a burger stall by the roadside and get electricity and water from the public supply etc. …….
THANK YOU MALAYSIA!! I LOVE YOU!
As the going gets tought, the TOUGHS get going!

BIG mouth + small heart + tiny brain is always the style of our politicians. They do not have enough analytical skill to actually analyse or learn something properly. Though I think they are quite good at personal finance analysis.
I used to think that my vote is not important( 多一个不多,少一个不少). I know that my single vote can not fight the friendship between SAP and Barcelona Netherland, but this is the least I can do now. So, eventhough you think of migrate, please vote!!! For your friends and neighbours, we have to fight the last fight.
( PLEASE check my vocab is it too sensitive, if yes pls don’t post it, I don’t want to be the 1st BLOG Commentor to be on newspapers headline.)
hai yap, I like this:” Our government had built the highest building in the world, and yet their heart is so small.” in mandarin.. 我们的政府能拥有最高的双峰塔,但他们的心却很小。。 我想改为胸却很小。。their breast is too small…正所谓小胸的人同常会掩饰自己,用假胸来欺骗我们这些热血人士,使到每次选举都不知不觉地为他们“举”起。。yap,不要阎掉自己,我们可以向真胸的人举起。。 will i being caught after writing this? Mr.B 你想捉我?我系翻版强,你要认住我!
LIttle heart , little mind. It is devastating that as we approach the 50th year of our independence, the nation are so polarized and becoming more archaic. I will vote for credible opposition or give a blank vote of dissent. In my constituency, it is either PAS or BN. And which is lesser of the evil? Currently, none.
be calm everyone, this does not just happen to the chinese exclusively, remember the malay boy who get sentence to jail for not able to show up for PLKN, he still a kid and have to go to jail just becoz he have to suppot his poor family and not show up for PLKN??
It is not the crisis of race.., it is more toward a crisis of age gap! and the corrupted system , senior politician see things in a very different way from us the youger generation.
they are brought up in close space community unlike us the younger generation who were brough up in intergration community. the way they think and view the world is very different from the way we see it.
One of my malay friend commented on the Negarkuku song made by the boy, he said the song is merely about self expression, he would have done the same song as expression toward Singaporean goverment or america. BUT the elderly politician see it as an oppurtunity to gain popularity(duh!) and they dont think twice to exploit the situation.
Yes the system might be corrupted, but still.. this is our country where we were born and raised. It is up to us in the future to change this situation not by harsh act but by inteligence and planning.
~ dont be like the people we hate, but understand and counter act them. (Gandhi)
A vote among the millions, but that is where it starts…keep still.
Yo Yo, please vote if you have a chance..It might not change everyday, but if everyone thinks like you we are “seriously” in deep shit..
Voting is your voice and your choice, you have a fantastic blog and if you could promote voting using your blog it would be a great thing to do. Your blog is read by a lot of readers, you can influence them and by blogging your dissatisfaction or suggestion for improvement.
I think we can change Malaysia, maybe not now..but 2020 is the time line…hehe, long way to go dude..
Have all of you registered yourself as a voter?
The right to vote is one of the very few entitlements given “free of charge” under the laws of the land to every citizen. Exercise it, please, Yap
“You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.” -Mohandas K. Gandhi (1869-1948).
Because of Negarakuku and AhYap, I just registered with SPR to vote on next election. Just my vote is not important but ours is. Come on AhYap. Join me. Join Us. For the sake of Malaysia and our future, we have to vote to show them (you, me, us know who they are) our power.
Yap, your post speaks as what my mind thinks. I hope others, especially non chinese malaysians, can see the truth as we see – the fact that we are being tortured as a second level citizen in Malaysia, and the fact the quality of our leaders are not up to expectation at all.
But looking back, I’m probably hoping too much.
If we think rationally , both have different stand point,
government think:”i will to kill one and warn hundreds!”
Citizen think:”If you kill me, there are still thousands of me!”
Azlan_Lee
you got a point there. The world is getting more dynamic and our leaders are too stucked up and old fashion leaving the good things in life vanish with all that corruption. The system is wrong and the root has grown too far. Its time to pull out that root and reset.
The government doesn’t know what is freedom of expression. How are they gonna know what is youtube? Streamyx sucks they also think they damn great, now we have got even the oracle, SAP, Hyperion, the government department can’t even stamp the document correctly let alone learn all this technology crap. The government lah so god damn stuck up. Now everyone comparing Singapore and Malaysia. WHY WHY TELL ME WHY (Thank You Anita Mui) Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Monica. Cause you political leader too old fashioned, old fashioned that they think they so great while the world outside so god damn dynamic. The US in the 70s has flown to the moon and back dunno how many times until appollo 13 tom hanks also so old liao. while Malaysia wanna take a teksi ride to space, after he don’t use meter how ? 20, 20, Mau ??. I wonder what we study in University and want to contribute to the Malaysia. See the government also fed – up already talk about chickenlah, fish lah, tanam jagung lah. Come on lah Mr Government show your citizen good example. We have the Stealth fighter now already lah still wanna play small small knife meh ? At least the Ah Beng in cybercafe is using the Commando assault rifle and have flash banglah. Your small small knife so old fashion, now dota also got sniper lah. Your small small knife where got heng anymore ? Korea use nuclear already lor. But you guys can use C4 bomb very good not for combat but for a pretty girl hor ? Careful when you use the C4 bomb man after BOCOR veli dangerous lar. Everyday ask people to keluarlah racial issues lah. Brother the world is not like that lah, people don’t use katak di bawah tempurung anymore, people use the heart of tarrasque and they presevere when people got critical strike how u gonna defend ? That day China Whack Malaysia
5-1, chinese don’t like football one also can trash you seng ha lah.
Paper cannot cover fire one lah brother. So WAKE up to a better Malaysia.
no one ever thought that the negaraku guy is actually promoting racial disharmony… by touching sensitive religous issues,
Dear Everyone! I am now officially a registered voter!
Malaysianpeople,
I love the story, damn nice integrated with Dota… haha
I would like to put it this way…
Malaysian is good, bumiputra citizen is good …
but somehow, some political players like to implant the unnecessary sentimental perception into bumiputra citizen thinking. The fact is only the political players’ GROUP enjoyed the 30% share and not those poor bumiputra citizen. Come people from all the races, please vote to deny UMNO’s monopoly. We, a truly and young generation of MALAYSIAN could make a difference.
Dear bloggers,
Please register yourself and vote. Don’t think your vote is irrelecant, because SMALL RIVERS CAN FORM A LARGE SEA.
Ah yap see all also know how to think
omg, i never realise that sooo many of my friends never voted b4 …. and I always thought my ONE vote wont count. .. sorry to note its now too late to register, but I WILL MAKE IT A POINT TO REGISTER THE NEXT ELECTION …. although the chances of winning is slim but that is ONE vote against the Govt
“If I have to go to jail if I don’t vote, then I will go to vote. If I have to go to jail if I don’t celebrate our national day, then I will celebrate.”
I would say that if you really want Malaysia to mature, you SHOULD go to jail and make a hell of a fuss about it. Said, Martin Luther King:”A man respect justice when he breaks a law and accept the consequences to highlight the injustice in the system”
There is no shortages of ignorant Malaysian who do not know what is the problem of the country. The problem remains at nobody is ready to sacrifice himself or herself for the country to gain racial justice, or just simply justice.
I hope to be able to rise into power and one day have the opportunity to move the whole nation into the true patriot’s dream, and I hope you would be there too, making sacrifices.
Regards
I just voted down the government! I just voted down the government!

so they are force to do 2nd way.
2)from nx year we reduced the number going to JPA,..(giving sohai excuses that we going to bankrupt if we not reduce it while those sohai want to rebuild the prison wall and new parliment building worth over billions ringgit.
i know the only thing that i can only do now is complaint ,and i sear that when i reach 21,i will vote for the opposition, thou i dont know what will happen if they handle it,but better to vote for the current sohai.
