well just thought I'd point out that you abilty to uptake calcium is dependant on vitamin D which the body produces in its skin when exposed to sunlight. The countries with less sunlight have a higher osteoperosis level becuase of this not because of the calcium.
Another thing is that the study was skewed by age. People in the high calcium uptake areas have a much higher life expectancy. Old people get osteoperosis because they're old and do not put much strain on they're bones. Not because they drink milk.
If drinking milk reduced the calcium in your bones then why does it only seem to affect such a small portion of the population and why only when they're over 70 years old. I know people who dont drink anything other than milk and water. Surely they should be dead by now or have bones so week that they break constantly.
Finally as for the acidity in the blood any food, and I really do mean any food, that we eat and can digest is broken down into acids. Thats how our bodies transport fats and proteins. So erm I guess your saying eating is bad for you. Also just to add to this point if you drink semi skimmed or skimmed milk then that will have most of the fatty acids removed.
Finally just incase you were still unconvinced that this was all nonsense. you could test the urine for the calcium containing compounds that would be produced and guess what. There aren't any. This is unfortunately one of those myths that crept up because of misinterpreted data.

Hi
It's interesting how milk can create a debate:-)

Just want to share some little things here:
A baby drink a milk, that is not even 'milk'. It's called milk formula or infant formula. The milk in infant formula is specially formulated to suits baby's digestive system which have more whey protein than casein protein (cow's milk are the other way round), adjusted almost the same as their mother's milk (almost I said, never the same or superior!).
The rest of the ingredients are added/blended.

I agreed with cetori. In order to increase calcium absorption in the body, vitamin D is needed. And also - an acidic medium. Our stomach acid is acidic enough to absorp calcium. To get better absorption, it's best to take milk/calcium supplements immediately after meal or with meal.

When we talk about high calcium intake means an intake of 2000mg or more in a very long term. Yes this may lead to hypercalcemia, could be life-treatening. Your body can only takes calcium at certain amount, at certain time. So there is actually no need to take extra calcium, above you daily DRI (dietary reference intake).

the galileo example is brilliant.

science is too young understand deeper things.
just like in dota, lion's finger level 1 cant 1 hit kill rhasta but lv 16 does.

sometimes what we 100% believe now might be 100% wrong.
just like u lion lv 16 with sceepter confident of killing a lv 1 rhasta, but
ur the one who will die because he activated blademail.

The RDA for calcium is 1200-1500 mg, dropping to 800-1000 mg after age 25.

""Very good question. Baby cows drink cow milk. Baby monkeys drink monkey milk. Baby human drinks human milk. No problem. Problem is when baby human drink cow’s milk and EVEN BIGGER PROBLEM, adult human drink cow milk! Baby cow has 4 stomach to digest cow milk, baby human only got 1! Cow milk is never a replacement for mother’s milk.

Have you even seen adult cow drink cow milk?""

cow has 4 stomach to process grass not milk.... :P

It is true. After age 2, no human has any business drinking milk.

Calcium and other minerals are absorbed into our bodies via chellation.

However for milk, the lactic acid reverses any benefits by causing more calcium to be removed than the milk provides.

The milk industry wants more people to drink milk because it is good for their profits, similar to what the tobacco industry does.

There's one big dairy industry out there. You should be able to find out what the dairy industry has done to mess up farmers lives in Kenya.

Better to eat vegetables and seafood that are rich in calcium. They are also much cheaper than cow's milk.

Even the minerals from mineral water cannot be absorbed, and actually cause damage.

If you understand your biology you'll know this is true.

If you only study biology to pass exams, then pity you.

"When you drink too much milk, your body become acidic."

How much is too much? You can't stop people from taking milk. At least tell us what is the maximum amount so that our calcium stays in the body. And yeah, proofs.
