Sohai Streamyx Technician - Why Send a Sohai to My House?

TM-Net sent a sohai to my house today. This is what the sohai did.
He said, “I come here to confirm your bandwidth, please do me a bandwidth test”.
I turn on MySpeedPC and do a bandwidth test to US Viginia server and it look like this
This is consider a ‘good’ result out-of-the-bad because I get < 10kbps most of the time. And remember I am using RM88 1mbps package, that is 1024kbps!
He said, “No No, we don’t care about your bandwidth test to the US server, you need to test it at TM-NET site.” …*@#$&*!…
So I have to go to TM-Net site and do a bandwidth test. Of course I get 850kbps. I get that everyday!
I said, “What is the use of having 850kbps in Malaysia only but 10kbps when connecting to international sites?”
He answered, “We don’t care about that, we only look at bandwidth test from TM-Net site. Other than that we don’t care”.
I said, “Then why call it INTERNET and not LOCALNET or MALAYSIANET? Since we can’t connect to the international sites?”
He said, “You call TM-Net, don’t tell me anything. It has nothing to do with me”. I answered with something and before I can finish, he repeat, “You go call TM-NET, that’s not related to me.”
He then leave my house immediately. That’s less than 5 minutes total from coming to my house to leaving my house.
TM-Net! Why send a sohai to my house who just want to waste my time?

If you subscribe to 013 mobile line, and you have no problem calling other 013 BUT always disconnect when you call to 012, 016 and 019. Is That A Problem?
If you buy a car and you can drive within Ipoh without any problem BUT you cannot drive it to Penang or Kuala Lumpur. Is That A Problem?
If you pay for 1024kbps and you can connect to local sites at fast 850kbps BUT you can only connect to international sites at 20kbps. Is That A Problem?!
The SCARY Truth IS
TM-Net already know that they have slow connection problem to international sites. There is nothing new to them. It is not a secret, not a surprise and not a special isolated case to them. The management staff know it, the technicians know it, the phone operators know it. There are millions of complaints in the internet and they receive thousand of calls each day about the slow connection. We are all doing our complaint alone, on 1-to-1 basis. If you total up all these complaints, you will know that almost everyone is having problem.
The problem to the slow connection is simple - The line is over congested. They blame people for using torrents and things like that. I do think it is correct. BUT users do nothing wrong at all because Streamyx has promised the bandwidth that we pay for and they need to deliver it! They need to take into consideration all of this before promising us anything?!Now I am paying RM88 for 1024kbps but is only getting 20kbps! That’s a shame because it is slower than dial up!
They have no resolution to the problem and is unable to fix it. So they use the ‘local bandwidth test‘ and ‘by best effort only clause‘ to ’solve’ it. Telephone operators are well trained up nowadays to listen and ignore complaints (promise to do something but do nothing, kick you like a ball from here to there). Technicians are trained up to use the local bandwidth test tool and tell you, “Hey see, no problem” and then ’settle’ it in 5 minutes.
Management/Marketing team close their eyes because they are happy with the money pouring in each month (RM88 x 70,000 subscribers = RM6 MILLION). Engineers also do nothing because NOTHING CAN BE DONE, unless TM-NET really willing to allocate money to upgrade their facility.

so, will it works if we file a law suits to TM Net? NO! 100%, before we reach the court, TM already block all the complains and tell the public:

I just subscribed Steamyx recently and I get told that I can online within next two days. Two days later, I tried to connect to streamyx, but I found that the ADSL line is not ON at all. So, I made a report to the Customer Service Department. They told me that the technicial needs two days to solve. So, I waited for two days. Two days later, I tried to connect again and found that my problem is not get solved. ADSL light still not ON. Therefore, I called to Customer Service again and being told that they need two more days to find the solution. Again I waited two days. Two days later, I tried again, the problem is still not solved.
So I called to Customer Service again, they asked me don’t call again and they will call me once things is done. One week later, I tried to connect again eventhought I am not be informed that the things is solved. Fortunately, I am able to connect now.
The funny things is, they promised to call me once they had solved the problem. But I didn’t get a call from them. Is a phone calls expensive or this is the so called “Service” ? I am very disappointed. I am sure that this kind of company will only survive in malaysia.

The funny thing is that once in a blue moon I’m able to download at the speed of 0.2MBps using streamyx. That’s like downloading an entire movie in 40 minutes (which I did for real a few days ago). But all of a sudden, I was disconnected (which on its own is something to wonder about) and upon reconnecting I get about 0.4Kbps download speed. WTF, TMnet?!

paying so much money each month, but alternate month my tmnet connection sure got problems eg key ports unavailable etc.
call the helpline, always ask me to do the same thing unplug and plug in the cable, turn off and on your modem…bla bla ….. fuck! i know tat already lah……it their fault over their site…..they need to reset their port and something over their site……then my connection is back again! more tulan is this problems occured, usually took more than 3 weeks to be fix! Chau Chi Bai TM net, how come we as Malaysian consumers are not protected by the Consumers Malaysian Law, we can sue them for it, for not delivering what they have promised, this is consider embezzlement, does anyone knows, i really would like to screw up this Chau Chi Bai, Pokkai company TM Nut company.

hurm.. the maximum speed for download from 1mb streamyx account to international sites is on 200kbs.. and local sites u can only get max around 750kbs.. if u downloading files direct from any mirror that located around malaysia.. there is no way we can get max 1mb download rate from a 1mb streamyx account.. try jaring wired adsl instead of streamyx.. im using it rite now.. 512k package is even better than 4mbs streamyx account.. they dont cap any p2p connection like streamyx does.. u can get 60kbs download rate easily while u downloading torrent..
ps: dont sue them.. heheh.. u will only waste your money.. cos what they said is right.. read your term and agreement before proceed with any legal action..
TM has made me disappointed again and again and i really do not want to have any relationship at all with them, if possible!
They are provinding the most expensive broadband service in the country, just because people do not hv choice, they hv to stick with screamax and sell their souls for 2 years. Whats more, the start up cost for setting up a screamax connection will make you jaw drop.
my last experience with them is i am trying to move house and i wish to transfer my streamyx connection to my new place, however, the new location DO NOT hv streamyx connection, and the funniest thing in the world is, the TM guy not only failed to guide me thru with my situation, he simply change my BILLING address to my new place. So, they bill me for the next few months, even thou the phone line/broadband is in PJ, until I go to kedai telekom personally to cancel my account.
Not only that, i hv to wait for 2 more months to reach 1 years to enable me to terminate my account.

Yes, count me in. I have been very patient with Streamyx. It’s really been 18 months of frustrations. Just like a true Malaysian, I swallow every damn excuse that they could provide for my routine 30 complaints a day. Yes, 30 calls a day! I can remember and recognize most of the poor staff attending my calls. All of yous are right about everything being blogged here. It’s not about the money being paid to Streamyx that matters so much to me. Nobody likes to be taken for a ride. Even the TAI-SO-HAI’s, like me who paid 6 months subscription up front from the first bill received. I can still remember the day when I jumped with joy when the modem’s DSL light stopped blinking! Waited 2 days. A big jump from 56kbps to 1024kbps, u know? Still, ah……memories.

Joy turned to frustration to hate. Joy becoz my beloved Malaysia have progressed to Bband. Frustration becoz the service is a lie and hate becoz Streamyx does not have the BIG bandwidth to sell to SoHai’s like me in the first place.
I don’t have to be a tech junkie to guess what is really happening. It’s all about making money. Fast easy money. Getting the new CEO, big lavish spending on advertisements, complete overhaul of every service available before….etc.(Just the same wine, but in a different bottle). Maybe Streamyx does have the bandwidth, maybe they dont. Maybe they got the wrong advice from their marketing SIFU’s and worst of all, maybe they got the wrong set of customers, like yous and me, speed junkies! How many of yous out there actually know what is bandwidth and latency and pipelining and proxies and the other shit about optimizing our internet connection. Fair guess, anyone? Less than 10%! Thats why I am joining yous to sue them. We have to educate the others. People wont know what is a sweet crisp internet connection until they have tried it once. They wont know why they cant connect and get on line until some other Streamyx subscribing SOHAI share it on a SOHAI’S blog like this.

For the SOHAI’S that is getting slow connection:
Tip 1: Maximize your Windows standard Internet max connection to 10.
Tip 2: Disable the Windows QoS service as 20% of your bandwidth is not fully utilized as Windows want to make their Security updates downloads faster. How often is there a patch nowadays?
Tip 3: Completly disable auto update. Set it to no notification. Update it manually….1st Tuesday of the month is MS Patch day.
Tip 4: Change your ISP
Tip 5: Try the Mozilla Firefox web browser. It’s free and it will improve your browsing speed. I guarantee, if blog here to farck ME.

Finally for those of you who cant connect or often no connections, I seriously urge u to access your Bband modem settings. Enable the logging and tell me I am wrong. I am not saying I am perfectly right but there are people out there commiting cyber crime on behalf of the ISP. Less people on-line less bandwidth distributed. They do this by sending Win Nukes to your IP. Win Nukes used to be able to completely disconnect anyone on Win95/98 and though the problem was fixed by MS on XP, it doesnt work on Bband modems. They can send to a lot of IP’s at just one go. They cant cover all the range but somehow all subscribers trying to connect or already connected will be affected. Enable your modems firewall and blog here to farck me if I am wrong. U should see something like this >>>firewall: Win Nuke detected, from XXX.XX.XX.XXX to your present IP. 99% of the time, the originating source is from Malaysia. Reporting to Streamyx is a waste of time as all my e-mails come back with a farcking standard reply. A better choice would be, make a police report and keep a copy for yourself. Go to mycert.org.my and complain there. Different wine in a different bottle now.

Sometimes google also cannot load, half the time like no internet like that. Torrent n p2p also they block liao, blame download kakis for making the internet slow when they themselves never upgrade their infrastructure. Then always promotion this and that, give free modem lah, free this free that. Mahai, system already cannot support so many ppl still wanna do all these promotion. Summore sub the work to all those tanjung rambutan company which do promotion by the roadside n give us low quality work. We pay for one mb, is it so hard to give us 1 mb? Give us half of 1 mb also cant, knnbccb tmnet!
I’ve tried Maxis ADSL Broadband at my friend CC at Nilai.So far, His torrent DL bandwidth always stay at 60+Kb/s on public tracker.. also, very fast streaming in youtube.. compared to my screamyx, i have to pause n wait until its fully buffers. n last 3 week I’ve cant surfing to any web site n also YM in the office hour period but its fine on weekend and after the office hour.Ive suffer with this problems almost 3 weeks.

P.S. Haish, I can’t even finish downloading a 300 ++ MB file in 3 hours since I’m only connected to the kampung tm.net.my computers !! Streamyx technician had the cheek to proclaim that he could even download his movie from all over the world, including Mexico, when he dropped by my place to check on the connection ! This, after I had specifically told him that I could only be connected to the kampung2 along tm.net.my’s route !?@*&%!$#!?

288kbits download & 34kbits upload
Tmnet speedometer shows:
288.96kbits download & 162.64kbits
they promise to deliver 1024kbps
now the connection is 800++ kbps.
memang no problem wat…
they say 1024kbps but din say whether local or international ma.

i can easily download bt up to 44 KB/s (384 kbps basic plan) at every single moment.
oct 07: download 28.89GB upload15.26 total 44.15GB better then some screamyx subscriber….
My place is Selayang Baru, just opposite the SMK SB.
Compare to my friend in Ampang, using screamyx only get 2KB/s download bt, spending 6 hours to finish 100MB… New record for screamyx… Let’s scream for those lousy service…. and masuk dalam Malaysia record book la…. ha ha…

I am one of the user of streamyx, well so far my connection is so damn slow. Their helpdesk is out sourcing, which means, you call them, but not the TMnet person who answer the call, is other person that know nothing about it. The funny thing is singapore already use 100Mbps, but why we are still using 4Mbps with Copper wire? The agreement write “Up to 4Mbps” means can up to 4Mbps? or Slower than 4Mbps? don’t really get what it mean, Streamyx try to fool us. TM is fast? well, perhaps we should call TM = Damn. Tmnet = Damn Net.

Yea, good one, tmnut is always covering their arses. Call technical hotline and you get “Please clear your cache, off your firewall and antivirus, unplug ur modem and make a direct connection without splitter involved. Finally reboot then reconnect. If you’re still experiencing slow connection go to the tmnut website and look at the slow connection troubleshooting.”

What a bunch of crap when obviously, it has nothing to do with firewalls since it was working fine in the morning, but service went to hell in the afternoon and at night. Government should allow for more ISPs instead of just one fking tmnut which is providing BULLSH*T to its customers all day AND IS STILL SERVING THE BULLSH*T to its customers when they call for technical assistance.
