Streamyx Speed - ROCKET in Malaysia, TURTLE outside Malaysia

Some people don’t really get what we meant by Streamyx is the largest INTRANET provider in Malaysia. I think it come from the confusing technical word ‘INTRANET’.
Intranet is not Internet. Intranet refers to a local connected network. Usually a university or a company (say a bank) will have their own intranet. The reason we say Streamyx is the largest intranet in Malaysia because they connect like ROCKET within Malaysia and connect like TURTLE outsite of Malaysia (especially to USA). So it is a shame that they call themselves the largest Internet Service Provider (ISP) in Malaysia and that’s why we suggest them to call themselves the largest INTRANET Service Provider in Malaysia instead.
Today I do a few speed test using SpeedTest.net to let you know what I mean.
–Speed Test to Kuala Lumpur (Kampung of the World)–
See the Amazing speed? That’s ROCKET speed! 1,265 kbps! And my package is the RM88 1mbps (1,024kbps). So it actually goes over the limit! The reason it goes over the limit is because I complaint too much last year and they upgrade it free for me to 1,536kbps to keep my mouth shut.
But the upgrade is totally useless. Why? Because I don’t surf Malaysia sites most of the time. I have to visit YouTube, have to visit MySpace that are hosted in the USA. Let’s do some speed test to USA.
–Speed Test to Los Angeles, USA–
My God! Did you see that Amazing Turtle Speed? 33kbps! I pay RM88 for 1,024 kbps and 33kbps is only 3% of my package speed. The ancient analog modem that we keep in the museum now (the 1515 that sounds like diiiiiiiiiiiii-di-di-di-di when you try to connect) can connect at 54kbps!
How do you expect me to see Paris Hilton from her webcam in L.A. at 33kbps?

Arghhhhh! Pengsan. 24kbps! No wonder my YouTube movie and MySpace music never load. No wonder Donald Trump can’t hear me on SKYPE this morning.

Errrrr! Only 47 kbps! How do I voice-chat with Tony Blair using Yahoo Messenger?
The internet, means International Network. It connects the whole world together. If TM-Net promise us ‘Internet’ service of 1,024kbps, they should provide that speed for all sites in the world, not just Malaysia. So, our Streamyx is really one of the biggest Joke in Malaysia (something like Proton).
It is even more nonsense, when Streamyx is now offering 4mbps package while they are still unable to provide a good 1mbps!
Malaysian are a pity nation. We know something is shit, but we still have to eat it. We know Streamyx is shit, but we still have to use it. We know Proton is shit, but we still have to drive it. And I keep eating this 2 shits everyday (Streamyx and my Proton Iswara). AhYap Boleh!

you know what… i totally agree with u regarding the LARGEST INTRANET!!!! streamyx is just so slow if i wanna connect outside malaysia…
the should not offer 4mbps if they can’t provide us a 1mbps.. rather then spending on promotions and all, they should just upgrade and provide us a much faster and stable line!!!! hahahaha
I also totally agree, when I download something through the server in the Cyberjaya, I am able to download with a speed of 3MB/sec. It’s amazing!!! when I see that, but whenever route to my US server. It become Snailymx.

it`s taken me 3 days to edit my myspace background .it’s good to customize it with your own idea ,but ,when i click preview button ..it`s hang .gotta close and start it all over ..crash after crash. and i manage not to continue doing it .
finally i get some premade layout and paste it to mine .. damn .. i had to share the same layout with hunded or maybe million of peoples .. all i got to say ..THANK YOU STREAMYX for making my day ..

Yes… Streamyx is totally slow especially during raining time.
My house always get no sygnal. I thing those living in west malaysia should subscribe to Jaring if their area have couverage. I went to see my friend there. he is using Jaring.

in singapore im subscribing 6Mbps service, but as what all contracts would say, best effort 6Mbps.
And i can’t load a youtube without experiencing lag every now and then, same goes to imeem.

Hehe, same case here… thought that was a new TM trick — offer you 1.5Mbps so they can close you support ticket for good and consider to have solved your terrible experience with tmnet lagging sporadically…

I TOTALLY AGREE with U that Streamyx is terrible SLOW and still want cheat the world by offering 1M. I wonder why our government never notice that by issue them the license to Bogus Malaysian

This is Malaysia. Nothing strange about it. Lim Keng Yeik even make a complain on newspaper but also no use (he is the multimedia minister in charging of telecommunicions). And didn’t you notice a lot of other similar things like - KL Flood, Traffic Jam, Proton ‘Saga’, Leakage building, corrupted police, etc. Our government notices it everyday. But so what? Welcome to Malaysia.

I have a 4M package and I would have to agree (by the way, don’t let them sucker you into this package). The connection is amazingly fast within Malaysia, but soooooo slow to everywhere else. By the way, I get about 80Kbps to the USA. I should go celebrate as I have a little over 100% over your connection. Woohoo!!! Bring out the Dom. Does TMCrap actually believe we only surf Malaysian sites? Can you imagine us going to TMCrap’s site everyday, just for the hell of it? I don’t know if any of the complaints have any impact at all. Do they even care? How can we make a difference with them, having almost a monopolistic control over the internet business? Any ideas?
