I just had this conversation with one of the so-call streamyx ‘technical’ support, very interesting:
Me: "Hello I cant connect to Internet with my streamyx, can you please check?"
Streamyx: "Yes sir can I have your name… blah blah blah"
Me: "Sure, I am this this this, my phone number is this this… I have do all the router restart and blah blah blah…"
Streamyx: "Oh okay, can i have your IP address please?"
Me: "IP address? I don’t have an IP address because i cant connect to streamyx server. that’s why i couldn’t get online…"
Streamyx: "(in exact word!) "yeah i know, but can i have your IP address?"
Me: "Cant you hear me? I couldn’t connect to streamyx server, how can I have an IP?"
Streamyx: "okay if in this case can you ping your IP?"
Me: "I dont have an IP address!"
Streamyx: "…. (ignoring me completely) you go start, program, command prompt, and type ipconfig…"
Me: "Friend, are you listening? I don’t have an IP address…. how can I ping it?"
Streamyx: "(in exact word!) Oh like that ar, you computer cannot ping then its your computer problem lar."

And I find it very interesting that there is a plural form of sohai!!! i.e. sohais! wakakakakakakaka.
Streamyx has been very slow lately. Again if you call in and a recorded sound will blame it on the cable again [poor cable, always kena blamed]. Their cable don’t know why must putus every month.
According to the voice, it will be end of the month before it can be fixed, zzzzzzz. If you do a speedtest at speedtest.net to a Malaysia server, the speed will be blazing fast because cable connecting within Malaysia is not putus. But if you try a US server, your speed is almost 0, tak jalan langsung! Because the international cable kena gigit ikan jerung.
I called Streamyx yesterday and the sohai use the same trick again and tell me everything is OK because my connection to the Malaysia server is fast! He said cannot test US server because it is too far. He say, “Jangan. Jangan. Itu jauh lar! Test Malaysia cukup.” lol.
And how often do we really surf a website hosted in Malaysia? Or how many great websites are hosted in Malaysia?! And if it cannot connect outside Malaysia, that means Streamyx is useless!
Again, these are not new issues. We have been talking about it for years and it just coming back to hunt us. Streamyx inside Malaysia Boleh, but outside Malaysia, Tak Boleh. That’s why I am really not interested in all those what what “High Speed Broadband” and the what what “4mbps package”. What are the use of those when you can’t deliver a 1mbps properly?
Long way to go Malaysia. Even if we fixed TM, we still have Maybank, Proton, Pos Malaysia, MAS, KTM, PRDM … the only effective entity in Malaysia is Inland Revenue Board (Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri)!!! [Ok ok, to be fair, Bank Negara too] It will be a long long time, if it ever happens that these companies can be like IRB and Bank Negara.

the tech support wants u to ping to yourself & modem, to make sure your LAN connection is ok. the IP address they’re asking for is your own network IP address. When you said you don’t have IP address, they assume you have a faulty lan connection/setup.
I’ve got a 150kb/s speed at my home, and 8mb/s speed here in Shanghai.
I could not count how many multiple times screamyx is slower than the line here
agree with liang. He/she want to test ping your modem and do some TCP/IP Settings.
….which is not true because I had reaffirm him, again and again, that the network is doing alright (I’m the ‘me’ in that conversation).

streamyx not just full with sohais but also the technician support are damn SUCK!!! and SLOW!!!! i’ve been register to streamyx for almost a week but the SOHAI Technician didn’t even call me for an installation of the phone line……WHat the fuck is this kind of service they are giving to us as knwn as Customer….Sohai….can’t wait to see the Sohai Technician face….i for sure will screw him 99…..
the issues here are actually this tech support is really sohai,because he is nt technically train enough and doesnt knw about networking at all..if cust cant connect to the internet,he should guide the cust to check the LAN for wired and WLAN for wireless
again..we have to admit tht Streamyx is very lousy ISP in Malaysia..If you want to have much more better than streamyx,then go for Jaring Services la wei~!! or else using p1 wimax for normal surf and do nt go for online games..if playing on9 games with wimax,walaweiii,sendiri mau ingat la beb~
lol, but only these sohai”s” can have a stable connection. others like P1 wimax always disconnect….

i don’t know why i tried disconnected to the internet then try to go cmd i still got the ip address lol, so anyone know which ip address is actually the ip address you using to surf internet?

streamyx is bitch, we pay more for pig speed. in singapore 2mb only cost about RM20!!
the pig hot line 100 is retard stuff who dont know anything, keep asking for ip address.
my friend just apply stremyx, and this 2 monkey technician send by TM seems cannot make any connection. they said “oh your computer is mess up, better send for repair”. then i try to look what went wrong. then i realized they dint do the ’setup up a home or office network’ WTF kind of technician is that!!!!!
this whole month my internet cannot go online everyday from 5pm to 1am. from the 2nd of June till 22nd of June, i’d called them 8 times to complain and they said checking, checking and checking. same problem for the whole month, adsl light is up but internet light is off, cannot up at all. using their stupid riger 108 modem. the line now only getting better after writing an email to fuck them kau kau. si pek TL….

I just subsribe to the 4MB package in April.
It is suppose to come with a free phone.
Its mid July now and there’s still no sign of the phone.
I email and call them many times but still…
And the 4MB is a joke.
My friend’s 1MB mobile broadband can download faster than my 4MB line!

Been almosts 2weeks,I totally kenot download anything..300mb file need 80hrs to download….Sohai company been in-charge by Super Sohai ppl….Then Sohai like us use the Sohai services…
Can said,we all are SOHAI….we should have SOHAI Public Holiday ler.Let’s celebrate,
actually there is 1 way we can do which is insist to terminate our streamyx. When there are more people terminate streamyx.. Confirm they will start to do something.. may be another sohai action .. who knows! if there exist another company which is better than streamyx, i believe when you call to customer service you will listen to something which similiar to what a pro tech should say. Note*: similar only! A professional technician should explain to the customer why they need your ip and what type of ip they needed! public ip ? tcp ip? please explain to customer in details before ask them to do this and that without telling them what are you trying to do! this will help reduce unnecessary misunderstanding!
