TM Net 10Gbps International Link Upgrade Annoucement – Correction
Jul 3rd, 2007 by AhYap
On June 30 (Saturday), they make an announcement on their website. Again, they are not honest. So let AhYap help them to correct it.
We wish to inform our customers that the Internet service is always
currentlyexperiencing an increased latency/degradation in performance specifically for its international links to United States of America (USA).As a result, our Internet customers will always experience hell lots of delay
may experience some delaywhen accessing content and websites hosted outside of Malaysia, especially in US. We are conducting an upgrading exercise of our international bandwidth links, where an additional 10Gbps of capacity through Hong Kong is being implemented.*As the moment, 90% of the upgrading process is completed and we expect the upgrading process to be fully completed by 2nd July 2007.
We are pleased to inform you that this exercise is part of TM’s upgrading plan for its international links in 2007, which will help reduce traffic congestion and improve customers’ Internet experience slightly. There are also plans for further upgrade of our international bandwidth capacity in September 2007 but unconfirmed yet (see first lar).
Telekom Malaysia apologizes for any inconvenience caused, whilst at the same time, we would like to lie to you
assure youthat we are upgrading our services to serve you better.
* Do you know how much is 10Gbps? There are nearly 1,000,000 Streamyx users now. Assuming everyone is using 1mbps (1,024kbps) package.
10Gbps = 10,240 mbps = 10,240 x 1,024 kbps = 10,485,760 kbps.
With 1,000,000 Streamyx subscribers, that means now everyone has an extra 10kbps to celebrate with! Yeah!

So my connection to Los Angeles, will improve from 33kbps to 44kbps (extra 10kbps). YEAH!
Thank you for the ’significant’ upgrade, TM Net!
(My package is 1,024 kbps)
July 06 Update:
They removed the news from their website! So is there really a 10Gbps link? So I am going back from 44kbps to 33kbps?
Update: AhYap no longer wants to complaint about Streamyx so he can live in PEACE. Please read his final post on how to solve your slow streamyx connection for the last episode. Commenting for this post has also been closed.

Thanks you TMNET
yeah nice try TM NUT…………..
thx for the 8912bits upgrade…………..
10GBps = 1024MBps?
Doing a wrong calculation. 10Gbps = 10240 Mbps
Thanks for pointing up my mistake! corrected now, **MALU**
cibai
today i posted comment from office
but never appear now wor…
i thot posted successfully Jor.
..
yap, those were the written work of cibai ppl, their work is to do PR for TMNUT.
That’s common anywhere, for banking products, T&C apply.
For service provider, we provide ‘Best Effort’
So can we consumers pay according to TMNUT’s best effort??
Well, I don’t think so….
TMNET is sucks!…Do fuck up stuffs!…
Ah Yap, seems like I couldn’t find that news on TMNut website anymore. They removed that “fake” news?! Can you confirm it? Or my eyes are playing trick with me? :-O
@Chan and everyone!
They actually removed the news from the website! *SHOCK* Does that means it is just a ‘fake’ news to calm us down and there isn’t any 10Gbps link?
10Gbps is the link rate… means… the backplane is tranferring data at 10Gbps burst rate, not the effective data rate.. the tmnet simply bullshit people..
the effective data rate is actually depending on the protocol overhead, coding scheme which include redundant data, and etc.
So your effective data rate, which converts to your effective upload/download rate.. will be much much slower…
My Modem page shows:
Speed
Latency
Speed
Latency
Domain Name:
512 Kbps
Interleaved
2048 Kbps
Is this 2MBPS download and 512KBPS upload?
Yeah, same like me. Unfortunately, it is only fast when you surf the websites hosted by Malaysia hosting company.
If you are thinking of upgrading to 1Mbps, to speed up connection to USA. DON’T.
The bottleneck is streamyx. If you are upgrading, you will still get that speed.
Upgrade when streamyx improve on the latency. This is getting too much.
[...] commented on my post TM Net 10Gbps International Link Upgrade and he said he can’t find the news article on TM Net [...]
Hello! I know this site from streamyxsucks.com. I have a website hosted by ifastnet.com, a company that providing free hosting services but it is not accessible anymore. The company told me that streamyx has blocked the domain. I tried to access my site with proxy and I don’t get any problem. What should I do now?
@Kevin:
Since you can’t change streamyx, you have to change your host. Get a paid one like Exabytes (where this site is hosted)
Streamyx user currently is not more than 400,000 user. Please take note..
dont u guys know that the streamyx kbps or mbps is kilobits and megabits… not bytes. 1 megabit = 1,000,000 bits which is equal to 125,000 bytes or 125 kilobytes.
think about the calculations… so as he said, if its devided amongst 1million people for a 10Gbps upgrade… anyway the bloody GB is only Gigabits… so what the hell… bloody liars.
